Ciara, on the other hand, was a little less successful with her black and white look.We actually love the feather skirt and we love the top, but maybe not together. The dress actually looks really beautiful and even elegant from the side, but in the head on view, the dress appears to cut her in half and is not as flattering as it could be. On the other hand, there is nothing we like about those shoes. We know it's an MTV event, which means unconventional, but the last we checked unconventional does not also mean hideous. Actually, the more we look at this, the more we realize that with the right shoes, this dress could really be balanced out. Because the bottom half of the dress is so bottom heavy, a dainty shoe would actually take this outfit from a C- to an A-.
Oh. Lady Gaga. Yeah, she happened to be there, too. With her royal guard.
This is a different look for her. Without the feather duster on her head, she would look downright normal in this Alexander McQueen gown. And for once, her makeup seems to actually enhance her face, rather than make her look like a drag queen. In other words, it's nice to see her looking pretty for once. At the same time, I think we would have preferred to see her looking a little more Gaga-rageous while keeping the pretty. Graded on the Gaga curve, A+ for makeup, B for ensemble.
I agree with you, I actually found Gaga to be pretty here. I also thought that it was a nice change. I feel like her style had become predictable.
ReplyDeleteShe had definitely gotten into a bit of a rut with her very yellow wigs and heavy make up. Although I still wish her outfit had been a little crazier, it was definitely a good gown to wear when you know you're going to be taking home all of the major awards of the night. Of course, she certainly shocked everyone later with the meat dress, so I suppose she did her job after all.
