Sparklies! Sparkly dresses have been quite the thing lately, haven't they. Clare Danes was positively radiant at the Emmys. But Claire shouldn't get to have all of the fun. As such, we have also found some gowns for the following lucky actresses.
Zoe Saldana or Carey Mulligan in Dennis Basso. We're torn on this. We think this dress would look great on both of these two ladies. Both are tiny enough to still look tiny in such a voluminous dress. We also think both ladies can pull off the size of it. We know Zoe can, a la Givenchy, Oscars 2010 (see pic below). Carey, on the other hand, could really bring a '60s/ '70s vibe to this with her Mia Farrow haircut that would be killer.

Marion Cotillard in Badgley Mischka. We always like it when starlets do flapper and Marion can do it better than most. We love the fun little details and layering on this gown and think the styling (thank you Project Runway) can take this gown from pretty and interesting to wow.

Jennifer Garner in Carolina Herrera. Our only problem, of course, with dressing a star in this dress is that it echoes the fabulous and iconic Alexander McQueen Sandra Bullock (who would also look great in this dress, by the way) wore at the SAG Awards this year. http://www.peoplestylewatch.com/people/stylewatch/gallery/0,,20343490_20738929,00.html.Yet, we can't resist this as Jen's dark hair would look beautiful with this salmon-colored confection. More importantly, her body would look slammin'.
Maggie Gyllenhall in Jenny Packham. By far, our fave gown of the new Packham collection. The slate color with the sparkles is unexpected and the sleeve detail, somewhat demure, is offset by the va-va-va voom v in the front with look-at-me open back. To us, this is so Maggie, we feel certain we'll see her in it somewhere.
Angelina Jolie in Jenny Packham. We hate it that we're dressing Angie in yet another flowy colorless dress, but this dress is so her style and we love the dress so much, that we'll allow her to keep true to bland form and sparkle at some event or other in this gorge gown. Our only wish is that the back of this gown had a deeper v to add some more sex.
And thus concludes stylin' with Mrs. Fashionista. How did we do dear hearts?
This was such a great way to start my work morning. This might be your best article yet.
ReplyDeleteRachel, what a wonderful compliment! Thank you. I could see this sort of post becoming a regular thing. I mean who doesn't want to essentially play paper dolls with movie stars?
ReplyDeleteMy future work day mornings thank you.
ReplyDeleteJennifer Garner would look fab in that Carolina Herrera. And I don't know if Christina Hendricks could pull off the Monique Lhuillier, but it could be completely gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I worry that Carey Mulligan would be too short for the Basso. It just looks like it would overwhelm her.
ReplyDeleteI could definitely see Marion in the Badgley Mischka. And I think that Carey could pull off the Basso. As for Christina Hendricks, aside from one or two misses, which I feel were fitting mistakes, she's pulled off many dresses that you would not think that she could pull off if you just saw it on the runway.--Sarah
