So, this collection is not perfect by any means. But (1) it's not black, (2) it's interesting, and (3) we're curious to see what else April is capable of. To us, it is a reminder that she was robbed (unless, of course, Gretchen and Andy end up showing us something much better than what we saw on tonight's episode of PR). We're calling it straight jacket chic. What do you think dear hearts?
I actually think that this is better than Mondo's collection. Like you said, it's not perfect, but I still like it.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Fashionista, how do you think that it compares to the other final collections?
ReplyDeleteif April had discovered these colors around the sixth episode, she would probably be in the final four.
ReplyDeleteStraightjacket chic, a very apt description.--Sarah
LBD, I think April's collection may be my favorite. Mondo's I liked very much, but there was nothing unexpected about it; I don't want to say too much more for those who haven't cheated :).
ReplyDeleteI liked April's more than Mondo's, maybe because she surprised me the most. There is an airy quality to her collection that I really like and even if the harnesses and bandages somewhat distract from the lightness of the clothing, it's an interesting juxtaposition of flowing fabric with constricted harnesses, bandages, etc.
Sarah--I think you are right. It's too bad she didn't branch out a bit sooner.
ReplyDeleteI agree Rachel.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved this collection. I love the garments, the styling garters ,ace bandages and lets not forget those fabu stockings! I think it is a wonderfully complementary Spring collection following the "Fall" collection that she did during the competition.
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely right Tim! That is exactly what she was doing. If you want to check out more of her excellent designs, Tom and Lorenzo posted some of her designs from her senior thesis on their blog.
ReplyDeleteDark and dreamy is absolutely fantastic in my book. I never had a problem with her use of black like everyone else it seems. She has a definite point of view and I don't think that there is anything wrong wit that.
ReplyDeleteI don't like it, but I really respect what she's doing. She clearly listened to the judges, and maybe even her fellow designers (some of them, anyway) and grew noticeably as a result of her PR experience.
ReplyDeleteLove that she worked in something other than black. The fabrics really make her work pop and I hope she learned that in working on this collection. She is only 21 as crazy as that is. I can't wait to see where she goes.
