Sure, she looks like a Christmas tree skirt or at least ready to attend some Highland Ball. And sure, she appears to be carrying a cheap handbag from Claire's and even if it's not a cheap handbag from Claire's, it is very junior and very out of place with her Christmas plaid.
But, see she doesn't look half bad from this angle. That's a very flattering neckline on her.
But from this angle, things aren't quite so flattering. Her bouffant ponytail is really bothering us and that purse really is just terrible. The satin is out of control and messy. Everything is just messy.
OK, maybe there were some things we thought we might like. But, overall, we're just going to have to say no to HBC here. We know she's wacky, but sometimes we wish she would just play the part of the accomplished and beautiful British actress that she is and wear something regal and beautiful.
Or she could at least show up looking ready for a nice spot of tea like Claire Danes (the jury's still out on Claire's ruffled boob shelf).
HBC is a hot mess. She's already won the Meryl Streep lifetime achievement award for "dressing however the hell she feels like," which generally means dressing like a witch. This is an improvement.

My problem is that I think that Helen's dress loks cheap, cheap, cheap.
