Say Cheese. Ah. Russell Brand. Here he is acting a like a jerk at The Tempest premiere and, yet, we must admit the man makes us laugh. He's so deliciously idiotic and such a complete and utter prick that we find him hilarious (Forgetting Sarah Marshall is one of our fave films). Plus, it has to be an act, right? And, yet, we feel certain that hanging out with him for an afternoon (or a few days in Scotland) would make us want to jump off a cliff.
World's Most Unlikely Pair. When Russell was not using his camera as an "extension" of his manhood at The Tempest premiere, he found time to pose with Helen Mirren on the red carpet. Of course, what's even more surprising than Russell Brand having a Kodak moment with the esteemed actress is the fact that Russell Brand is starring in the Tempest with Helen Mirren. That's right dear hearts. Mr. Brand is taking on Shakespeare. Of course, he is playing the part of Trinculo, the jester, so that's appropriate at least.
All that Glitters Is Not Gold. Speaking of Shakespeare, this quotation from The Merchant of Venice, Act II, Scene IV, pretty much sums up our feelings on Ms. Mirren's choice of attire for The Tempest premiere.Certainly, it sparkles and catches the eye, but we don't think it quite works for her here. Helen normally looks positively saucy for a woman her age, but we think this dress, even for all its bling, makes her look a bit frumpy. And since she's still got it, we think she should flaunt it for all it's worth. Still, it's a bold choice so we tip our hats to her for that. And she is Helen Mirren for goodness sake. What do you think dear readers? Is Helen all glitter and no gold or golden, through and through?
Its ok as an older actress dress, but as you said, she should be showing off her body.
ReplyDeleteI don't know. he is just too annoying for me. I liked him somewhat in Sarah marshall, but hated him in Get Him to the Greek.
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen Get Him to the Greek yet, but sounds like I shouldn't add it to my netflix queue any time soon!
