1. The Challenge. Woah. Iman is in a tin foil jumpsuit. Fabulous. Mata Hari, vampires... The challenge this week is to create night time looks inspired by the femme fatale. Fun! The other twist is that the Fashion Show will be tomorrow, meaning they will only have 24 hours to complete their looks.

2. The Workroom. Now that Cesar is in the House of Emerald, he gets to work bossing his new team around and pretty immediately tells Tamara that her fabric doesn't fit in, that she should stop working on her outfit and come help the rest of the team out with the mood board. Of course, when Isaac comes in to check out the mood board, he's not too impressed and also adds "Cal's on the other team now, so you kind of have to beat them." Ha! Team Emerald continues to struggle.Golnessa finds her fabric uncooperative and Tammy and Cesar continue to bicker.
Team Nami, on the other hand, seems to be doing just fine, even with Calvin. They've decided to go with a purple and black 1940s vampire theme. Isaac likes the idea very much. Nami then gets to work, and aside from Rolando seeking help from Cesar (and Cesar actually helps him!), nothing too controversial happens. Of course, Cesar's not the only one consorting with the enemy. Calvin and Tammy are BFFs.
3. The Runway. Oooooh. Dita Von Teese is the guest judge. A perfect choice for the femme fatale challenge.
The House of Nami presents a collection inspired by the 1940s and you can tell. The collection is cohesive and, for the most part, beautiful. Dominique's look is a black cocktail dress, with cute striped cummerband and tulle underlay. Adorable. Eduardo's dress is a black wrap around, with oversized ruffle collar. Again, cute. Rolando's dress is, in a word, ballet-inspired. The sweetheart bodice is completed with a giant poof of tulle in the skirt. We like. Calvin's dress is a floor length black gown with cowl neck and black paillette detail. We actually like his dress quite a bit. In other words, well done Nami.
Next is the House of Emerald...Overall, we don't love their gothic disco idea. It just looks cheap. The judges agree and Team Emerald loses again. Isaac says the main issue with the team's loss is fabric choice and we agree that the fabrics are primarily responsible for how inexpensive the whole line looks.
From Team Nami, Eduardo and Dominique are in the top two. We think both of their looks are cute, but we also think their looks are the most commercial and safe. After a dramatic pause, Isaac and Iman announce that Eduardo is the winner and can not be eliminated next week! Unfortunately, because Ed is the winner, he must also choose one person from his own team to be up for elimination with the House of Emerald. Ed nominates Cal and basically tells Isaac it's because he doesn't know him at all since he just joined the team. Isaac calls him out on that and says "Really, I'm pretty sure there are a couple of other players getting a free ride at this point." Ed doesn't take the bait and Cal, along with the rest of Emerald, is up for elimination.
The judges go through each designer's look from the House of Emerald (and Cal):
Tamara's red leather jacket with red leggings, as Iman says, looks like a swashbuckler and Tammy's in the bottom two.
Meanwhile, Cindy's red cocktail dress overlaid in black lace, with deep v in front and back, is in our opinion just ok. The judges, however, love it. And Cindy is safe.
Golnessa's green cocktail dress with sheer top and sheer lace panel in the back is not terrible or at least the idea isn't. The execution is atrocious, however. The judge's couldn't agree more and she's in the bottom two.
Jeffrey's look is a purple dress with crazy cut outs and lace at the top. To us, the cut outs don't work. They don't work for the judges either and Dita says that Jeffrey's gown looks like Dracula went to work out at the gym. Oh snap. He's safe, however.
And, Cesar, Cesar. Cesar's dress is, in our opinion, the worst. His gown has panels all over the dress and a crazy, costumey cape. Lucky for Cesar he's done good work in the past, and he's safe.
And, finally, Calvin, who was thrown under the bus by Ed, is criticized for the hem on his dress, but Cal is safe anyway.
After a little deliberation, the loser is announced and Tamara is declared to be out of fashion. Tamara leaves the room and, to everyone's shock, horror, dismay (you can fill in your own emotion here), Calvin starts crying and offers to take Tammy's place.OK. We knew they got along alright, but this is ridiculous. Isaac thinks so, too, and tells Cal he should stay.
Until next week dear hearts, ciao! And Happy Thanksgiving!
Had a fun time with this episode. So far, the show is great. Eduardo's dress made me yawn. It looked gorgeous walking down the runway, but how many more high collar dresses inspired by marchesa are we going to see.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree with you more Rachel! I think the judges may tire of Eduardo soon. I believe Isaac even told him at the end of the episode that he needs to branch out from the cocktail dresses...
