Part 1: Reservation for Two, Mr. Bourdain

Happy Sunday Dear Hearts,

Nooooooooooooooooooooo Reservations! Two words were never as sweet to mine ears.

The day Anthony Bourdain got married, I wept.Witty, cranky, world-traveling chef, with a heart of gold. What's not to love? My love for him is strange and strangely Oedipal. Also, kind of have a crush on Dr. House.

Mr. Fashionista is appropriately creeped out.

Anyway, I digress. Tomorrow night, the Travel Channel will be airing Tony Bourdain's 100th episode. http://www.travelchannel.com/TV_Shows/Anthony_Bourdain.  In honor of this momentous occasion, we have decided to recap our fave No Reservations episodes. We tried to choose only one episode per country (this posed a problem in obvious suspects, France and Italy). We also tried to include an episode from each continent (Europe, as we are particularly fond of that continent, was problematic). Below, we provide our list, but in the next couple of days we will provide a more detailed play-by-play of what made these episodes so very special.

1. North America: Rust Belt, Season 5, Episode 13

2. South America: Ecuador, Season 6, Episode 6

3. Europe: Provence, Season 6, Episode 9

  • Special Mentions: Venice, Season 5, Episode 2; Spain, Season 4, Episode 17; Paris, Season 1, Episode 1; Brittany, Season 6, Episode 3; Sicily, Season 1, Episode 6; Rome, Season 7, Episode 7; Istanbul, Season 6, Episode 2 (See what I mean? We had a hard time with Europe.)

4. Middle East (obviously not its own continent, but a world unto itself): Beirut, Season 2, Episode 14 and Beirut 2, Season 7, Episode 8

5. Asia: Vietnam (the Island of Mr. Sang), Season 1, Episode 4

  • Special Mention: Japan, Season 2, Episode 4

6. Africa: Liberia, Season 7, Episode 3

7. Australia: Australia, Season 5, Episode 12

More to come, Gentle People...
