Second Season Premiere: Worst Dressed of the Glee Gang

At the recent Season 2 premiere party of Glee, some our cast members were not as well dressed as we would have hoped. And our worst dressed picks are:

1. Lea Michele. You can try to work that, but...

It looks like you're wearing your grandma's curtains. Not only that, but why you decided to leave the curtain rod in around the hip area is beyond us.

Of course,  we've all been concerned with Ms. Michele's diminishing weight, but is this really the way to add the pounds? We think not.

Still, you've gotta admit. The girl can strike a pose.

Second Season Premiere: Best Dressed of the Glee Gang

Hello gentle people,

So, the cast of Glee turned up for their own Season 2 premiere party. Imagine that? As such, they have turned themselves over to the public opinion. And our best dressed picks are:..

1. Jayma Mays. Cute as a button. And kind of saucy, too.

But we actually think she's achieved a nice mixture of sweet and sexy with this little number. The dress has nice texture. Overall, it screams girl next door, but the short length also suggests little goody two shoes may be up for some fun as well. And the teal is divine with her hair color.

Project Runway: Ivy is the New Gretchen

It's time to recap tonight's episode of Project Runway, otherwise known as "Ivy is the New Gretchen".

1. Final thoughts on Peach:

Tonight's episode began with April lamenting last week's departure of the beloved Peach. April is understandably upset because she lost her roommate and is now forced to move in with the remaining girls, Gretchen, Val and Ivy. As the four ladies leave for the workroom, April quips: "We're the fantastic 4 and you've abducted April."

The Walt Disney Co. announced that it plans to acquire Marvel Entertainment Inc. for $4 billion in stock and cash, bringing 5,000 Marvel characters including Spider Man and Incredible Hulk under the Disney umbrella. (FYI Mr. Fashionista informs me that if April knew anything at all, then she'd know the Fantastic 4 were soon to be the Fantastic 3).

2. A Cruise around the Harbor.
Cut to the runway. "Hello." Heidi is wearing blue satin pants with red high heels. We do not approve. She informs the remaining designers that they will be designing resort wear this week. Mike C is pretty sure he has it in the bag because he's from Palm Beach. Mondo says running around in his underwear is his idea of resort wear because he doesn't leave the house. Uh oh. This does not bode well for poor Mondo.

Next up, a cruise around New York Harbor, complete with mimosas, to get some inspiration for their resort wear challenge. We are assuming New York Harbor is pretty toxic, so I can't imagine what kind of inspiration for lounging around on the beach our designers are getting from their cruise past the Statute of Liberty. I suppose, however, that Lifetime didn't feel like coughing up the cash for a quick trip to Miami. Casanova says this challenge is very Michael Kors, which means it is so not his challenge. Again, foreshadowing? April says she's going to do some black "creepy" resortwear. We are intrigued.

After a little sketching on the yacht, the designers are off to Mood. Tim goes around to the designers letting them know it is all about their design aesthetic and keeping true to themselves, which, is, of course, somewhat ironic since we are soon to find out that the designers will not be executing their own designs.

Red Carpet Mullet Dresses: Business in the Front, Party in the Back

There are good mullets and then...                                                         there are very, very bad mullets.

Wanna Be on Top?: ANTM Episode 1

Feb. 23, 2010 - New York, New York, United States - TYRA BANKS attends The CW Network's launch of ''High Society,'' ''Fly Girls'' and Cycle 14 of ''America's Next Top Model'' at Simyone Lounge in New York City on 02-23-2010. 2010..K64228HMc. © Red Carpet PicturesAnd ANTM is back again to make us laugh, cry, and scream at Tyra for cutting all of the girls who are actually pretty week after week. This season, they're really driving home the point that they are look for high fashion models.

Yeah yeah Tyra, you say this every year, but until you get rid of the Cover Girl contract, you will never be able to choose anything but a girl who looks like the girl next door. And I have a feeling Cover Girl trumps Italian Vogue. Speaking of which,  how many favors did Andre Leon Talley have to call in to get Italian Vogue to agree to feature a top model winner? He must have some dirty little secret on someone. Perhaps the editor-in-chief's fave party dress she passes off as a Vintage Gucci is actually some label-less gown she found in her grandma's attic?

 1. Bussing it to Palm Springs:

As usual, we have a huge group of girls to start with. All of the girls jump onto a bus and find out they're all going to Palm Springs! Every single one of them screams. We have a feeling that more than just the one girl who admitted it had no idea what or where Palm Springs is. When they arrived then, they must have been somewhat pleasantly surprised. Oh. It has really nice spas and stuff, but why is everyone so old, why didn't we go visit Khloe and Kourtney in Miami?? The girls then find out that they will be competing directly with the person they sat next to on the bus as they will be casting for "types." It's almost refreshing that they're not hiding how characters are chosen on reality shows.

And then...Tyra, herself shows up, and guess what? She still has that really nice hair we were praising her for a few posts ago.See Tyra's Best Wig Ever Mr. Fashionista starts convulsing now. He's accidentally entered the room while the show's on. He is in fits over Tyra's grand entrance. I simply explain that even though she is so very ridiculous, we must embrace her in spite of ourselves.

Part 8: Best of Bourdain in Australia: Melbourne

G'day mates. There aren't many Tony episodes to choose from in this part of the world (although Tahiti and New Zealand would have been sexier choices and we did greatly appreciate Tony's hobbit feet in the New Zealand episode), but we most enjoyed Tony's time in Melbourne because we were surprised by it. Yes. That's right. Australia always seemed quite boring to Mr. and Mrs. Fashionista, but Tony made me think we might be wrong. Now why is this the location that wins?

1. Melbourne. Tony basically eats his way through this surprisingly charming city. He visits a meat and produce market and visits chef Paul Wilson's restaurant Half Moon. It's just a good lookin' town with good lookin' food.

2. Trugo. Watching Tony play awkwardly situated sports is always fun, and this game, where one must turn around backwards and hit a rubbet puck with a mallet through two posts does not disappoint.

3. Dunkhill. After sampling many different ethnic cuisines on Sydney Road, Tony heads out to Dunkhill, a small town, nestled at the bottom of the Grampian Mountains, with a super gourmet restaurant which is completely self-sustained. We are completely obsessed with these self-sustained restaurants and hope to someday to visit one. Plus, the scenery is not bad at all.

We love this spicy senorita's attitude. In fact, we love the 'tude of the whole cast of her comedy, A Sad Trumpet Ballad. But what is that they are looking at?

Venice Film Festival: Nicole Kidman's Worst Nightmare

Surely everyone remembers Nicole Kidman's beautiful Dior gown from the 1997 Oscars. Gorge. Still one of my favorite red carpet dresses of all time. (FYI, I miss seeing Tom and Nic. They are quite possibly the most gorgeous Hollywood power couple ever to have existed).

Now, please observe Chinese film star Pace Wu's nightmare version of this dress at the Venice Film Festival this year. And we mean nightmare. Like a scary monster ate a hole in the middle of Nic's dress and then vomited out the extra embroidery detail down the dress.

Oh my. And we are never ever, ever, ever a fan of the sheer skirt thing either. Maybe that flies on a runway, but most definitely not on a red carpet.
